About Steven Jeffery

Steve Jeffery is a Director of Research, Vendor Management in the CIO practice at Info-Tech Research Group with 30+ years of experience in Information Technology with over 20 years’ IT vendor management experience. Steve’s breadth of knowledge includes IT Vendor Management, Negotiations, Contract Review, Procurement, IT Sourcing, Service Desk, and Project Management. Steve has worked in a variety of industries, including Entrepreneurial, Not for Profit, Financial Services, Government Contracting, Consumer Product Goods, Insurance, Medical Device Manufacturing, and Oil and Gas.

Steve specializes in Information Technology/Telecommunications and Human Resources Sourcing, Vendor Management, and contract negotiations. He is particularly adept at understanding business processes and implementing the appropriate solution to facilitate business needs and objectives. He has successfully negotiated several multi-million-dollar contracts for desktop hardware and software, telecommunications hardware and professional services, network equipment, and outsourcing services. In 1997, he was a co-founder of ABN AMRO’s IT Vendor Management Office. Before joining Info-Tech, Steve was a founding member of 4 Degrees North’s blog “Sourcing’s Mad Scientist.” At his most recent roles at 4 Degrees North, SunTrust Bank, and Serta Simmons Bedding, he was responsible for creating and leading the implementation and execution of Vendor Management Initiatives and IT sourcing strategies. Finally, Steve has performed in the capacity of a vendor responding to RFPs, direct employee, consultant, and contractor. Steve has presented at various conferences, seminars, and workshops.

Steve holds a Masters of Business Administration from Frostburg University, Frostburg, Maryland.

He is a co-author of the book “Art of Creating a Quality RFP.” He is also a frequent contributor to CIO Magazine, Computer World, and Inside Supply Management and has been quoted in Forbes Magazine. A sample of Steve’s articles include:
